Key notes: A male has 3 girlfriends and he says that he is in love with all 3. A female has 2 boyfriends and she claims she is in love with both. Is that really love? If no…How can you explain a man with 3 wives? Does it mean he did not marry them out of love?

Love is one of the most misunderstood words on earth, and it takes different dimensions in different societies. It also takes different dimensions depending on the individual’s perspective. We are all products of temperament and nurture.
It is generally acceptable that love can be Phillia, which is bortherly love, or can be agape, which is love for humanity, or eros which is romantic love. We learn the various dimensions and depths of love as we grow older and spend time with people from all walks and creed. In alignment with this issue on ground, it is safe to conclude that we are talking about eros love.
The human mind has the capacity to love as many individuals as possible. A relationship with God is what prompts discipline which makes one to forsake all and cleave to one.
The man who is in love with three women might be truly in love with them. A lady who is in love with two men might truly be in love with them. The polygamous man with three wives might or might not be in love with them. We are talking about mutual consent here. At least the three wives are aware of the existence of each other, unlike the scenarios of the two single people earlier shared. I am deliberately avoiding the definitions society, religion and culture tagged to love. Maybe in the next five years that i would have grown older, and more experienced, i would say something different. For now, love is love, i don’t define it as real or fake, conditional or unconditional. People love as much as they know. Thanks
You want put us for trouble abi.? Anyway its 100% possible to be in love with multiple people at the same time… honestly it is… Now, Some people will say it isn’t..that is the group of people who believe everything should go their way for everyone.
People react to, feel or see love in different ways. I believe we all are attracted to people for different reasons, so we tend to have a feeling we can relate to as love for them for these reasons.
A man with 3 wives can possibly marry them all for love and you can’t convince him to see things differently. Lets not forget infatuation which we sometimes mistake as love.
There is no expert explanation that is considered a fact as regards love and emotions. Similarly, there is no logical contradiction in romantically loving two people at the same time.
So i’ll end with this quotes by Bob Marley “who the cap fit, let them wear it” as long is you are not hurting nobody and you all are happy oo.. i cant shout.. i Jump this one pass ..smiles
Ehhh!!! How on earth can you be in love with two or more persons at a time when you are not Jesus.
A person that has multiple partners may claim to love them all but deep down he or she knows it is a love for a quality that each of them possess that makes them differ.
In the case of a man that has multiple partners,it may be because one can cook better,do laundry better while one is his ATM and the third one can make love to him better and so on.
In the case of a woman that has multiple partners, it may be that one guy is her ATM,one has a promising future in terms of his career and maybe the other has connections to the Elites.
My point is there is no way on earth we can love two people at the same time, even parents have favorite child.
Now,if a man has three wives, lets not forget that he didn’t marry them the same time and obviously not for the reasons ,some do it because they feel it is an obligation due to their religion rights, some because the qualities they saw in the previous wife isn’t there anymore so,instead of them to talk about it as couple, he results to make her feel jealous by marrying another.
Some men marry multiple wives because in their culture, they are entitled to take in their siblings wives should the sibling die. Some men also marry because in the process of having a side “chick” she mistakenly (they call it) got pregnant and so they think they don’t have a choice than to marry her forgetting that you don’t marry someone because she is pregnant for you and so on.
Although Dolly Parton sang ‘two lovers’ and she said she loves them both even though one was good to her and the the other isn’t. However, my opinion still stand. Its a No No.
Thank you Chams, J, Wells and Zee. I will always appreciate you guys…ALWAYS
“Can a person be in love with multiple partners at the same time? How can you explain a man with 3 wives? Does it mean he did not marry them out of love?”
On the surface, this question might seem to have a simple YES or NO answer but honestly, it is deep.
I honestly think that the human heart has the ability to contain/accommodate more that one partner at a time(note that i used the words contain/accommodate), but i really do not think what the heart feels with multiple partners at the same time is love.
There is this cliche that says “There is no true love without jealousy”
If this is true, how then can one explain that he/she is in love with more than one person at a time? Where is the place of jealousy?
In a situation where a man has 3 wives and says he loves the three wives. Take for instance; On day 1, he goes to wife 1 and makes love to her, telling her he loves her. On day 2, he goes to wife 2 and makes love to her, telling her he loves her. He actually expects wife 2 to understand he loves her even though wife 2 knew he slept with wife 1 the previous day.
Yet if any of the 3 wives goes out to cheat by sleeping with another man, he gets jealous; why – the wives are bound by law(not love) to be faithful to him even when the same law has permitted him to be unfaithful(logically)…unfair..i think.
To the one ‘loving’ multiple partners at the same time, it could be fair game (everything seems to make sense when the odds are in your favor). To the one at the receiving end, it surely will be unfair.
I want to end with this quote by Robert Mugabe
