Crystal Palace sack manager Frank de Boer after just four Premier League games

Crystal Palace have sacked manager Frank de Boer after just five games in charge following the south London side’s latest Premier League defeat .

De Boer arrived at Selhurst Park in the summer after signing a three-year contract when he took over from Sam Allardyce.

The Dutchman came under increasing pressure after his short-lived reign ended with a fourth straight Premier League defeat away to Burnley on Sunday before the club lost faith in the former Ajax and Barcelona defender.

Under De Boer, Crystal Palace became the first team to lose their first four top-flight matches without scoring a goal since Preston in the 1924-25 season.

De Boer will leave the club with the unwanted record of having the shortest managerial record in the Premier League having managed for just four games – which all ended in defeat.

Palace’s only win under De Boer came in the League Cup game with Ipswich Town who they beat 2-1 at Selhurst Park last month.
