Topic – Madam abeg mix egusi and vegetable soup and put small stew – Find out analysts’thoughts
Key notes: Many of us enter these local restaurants and ask for mixture of two separate soup. In fact one time one guy finished eating egusi and bitter leaf soup and wanted ‘extra’ but the bitter leaf was finished so he asked for egusi and uha soup, so he ended eating 3 different kinds’ of soup. I know there is no law against this o but hey…what are your thoughts. Are you guilty of this too?

My thoughts on assorted soups…
Along cultural lines, I am a Nigerian from the Yoruba Tribe. There is a particular soup called ‘abula’, interpreted as ‘pour it together’. Its mixture of ewedu plus gbegiri plus yoruba soup. It is a delight for the yoruba man to combine the abula with hot black amala and a bottle of soft drink.
From the average Lagosian perspective, when you consider how long you spent on the queue inside the stifling heat of the ‘buka’, you wouldn’t mind combining egusi with small vegetable. The way the attendants bark orders at you doesn’t help matters sef.
Finally, as a food connoisseur, i don’t mind combining ogbono and veggie soup o. Everything will mix together in my belle. When i fart as a result , blessed be the name of the Lord. Thanks
oh! boy! soup discussion you go fear na.
I’ve done it a couple of times… really most of the time i did it i wasn’t alone. Eating with my igbo friends and decided to join it the soup mixing..
Honestly, i like one soup when i eat alone. i believe people who do it will even agree its not so cool.
This soup mixing thing is common among the ibos. Nothing against it oo but why should i mixed a soup like ogbona, banga or orha… when i love them just the way they are.
To me mixing spoils the taste.
The only mixture i even managed was eguzi and ogbono… mixing vegatable with anything is weird so never tried that…
i just hope say we go all stop this bad habit as i see am. before we go carry am enter other parts of our lives..
Wells don sign out
I can’t just stop laughing because i can really relate with this.
I worked in my mum’s restaurant for over 3 years before i gained admission into the university. The first thing that goes through my mind is how many wraps of swallows do you want to buy that you want me to empty the pots for you alone? (Lol)
Customers are always right they say,so,i have to mix whatever he or she wants but seriously, its so funny to me.
So what i used to do is just put very little of each soup and add the stew. (So funny,”I want ewedu and egusi or okro and egusi or vegetable, egusi and okro) I will be like haha, which one be that na. Lol
Thank you Chams, J, Wells and Zee. I will always appreciate you guys…ALWAYS
Madam abeg mix egusi and vegetable soup and put small stew
I just could not stop laughing at Jeremiah’s comments….I really laughed o. Wells and Zee..You guys cracked me up.
Honestly, i mix egusi and draw soup o!!! Make i no lie. But i marvel when i hear some funny mixture sha ..and i often ask myself one question:
Do we mix this same kind in our homes? How many of us will tell wifey…”Babe(or whatever name you call her), please mix egusi and bitter leaf for me and add small stew for dinner…huh!!!!
Or better still..how many of us cook 2 or 3 kinds of soup and put in our freezer….given the cash crunch and erratic power supply synonymous with our economy….I don’t know oo
I know there is no law against “soup mixing” in restaurants but are we taking undue advantage?
Playing the devils advocate
Some may argue that; some tribes prepare their soup in a certain way. So when they go to these restaurants, they mix soup in order to achieve how its actually prepared in their homes….#whoknows
